Hey, I’m Alexandra.  I’m a writer/director/filmmaker who, to earn them dollar dollar bills, creates visual content for clients like Elena Jo Duggan, Food St, and Broadsheet Sydney.

October saw the release of the first music video I’ve directed: Olga Solar’s Tingle Fingers (pictured above). Excitingly, it was featured on MTV Australia and Clipped.TV.

Also, since finishing my second degree in Media Production, I have completed an AFTRS course in Assistant Directing. I’ve also worked as a First Assistant Director on beer commercials and short films; as a Costume Standby on a feature, and a web series; and travelled through the wilderness of the US, Canada, and New Zealand. I am currently freelancing and diving headfirst into as many film sets as possible.

I am an incredibly passionate person and take a lot of pride in having informed yet strong opinions on what probably seems like just about everything.  But I assure you, this makes creative direction decisions much easier. Just don’t ask me what I want for dinner. And if you do, suggest Japanese.

I love spending my me time near the water, or playing with, walking, or following other peoples’ dogs on Instagram (I live in Sydney in an apartment, sadface).

My first degree was in languages and while it might seem like a bit of a leap between studying dying languages, to working in technology, to being obsessed with making mood-boards for the next film I’m making, for me they’re all about communication, storytelling, and trying to connect.

I’ve had a lifelong affair with literature, but the love I always return to is the story-telling made possible by the moving image.  Nothing else binds us like the death of a fan-favourite, and nothing tears us apart more than an argument over whether Ross and Rachel were actually on a break.
